In August 2009, Usain Bolt set a new world record while competing at the World Championships in Berlin. A year earlier, he had already broken the record with a time of 9.69, just two months and 16 days after his first time at the top of the standings. His time of 9.72 in 2008 was enough to make him the fastest man in the world, surpassing Asafa Powell’s time of 9.74 that had stood for 8 months and 22 days.
Although Usain Bolt is widely regarded as the fastest man in the world, there is another athlete who believes that breaking a world record is within his reach: Yohan Coleman. The 28-year-old South African has a personal best of 9.76 and acknowledges that achieving a new record is a possibility for him. However, he prefers to focus on improving himself without putting excessive pressure on himself to beat Bolt. By continuously working on his performance, Coleman believes that better times will naturally come to him without having to try too hard to beat Bolt.
