Rai Takes Disciplinary Action Against Journalist for Social Media Post in Scurati Affair: Addressing Procedural Misalignments and Improving Processes

The Italian public broadcaster Rai has taken disciplinary action against journalist Serena Bortone over a social media post she made regarding the Scurati affair. Bortone’s post, which was published on April 20th, violated company policy regulations related to making public statements about company activities, news or events.

The CEO of Rai, Roberto Sergio, emphasized that the complaint against Bortone is not a disciplinary measure but a request for clarification and justification. The company will decide on further actions based on the responses received from Bortone. It is worth noting that there were no restrictions on the participation of guests or the reading of the monologue in question on the “Che Sara” program.

Investigations are currently underway to address any procedural misalignments and individual behaviors related to this incident. The outcome of these investigations will determine any necessary actions to improve processes or intervene with those involved. Usigrai has expressed its disapproval of the measures taken against Bortone. However, at a Supervisory Commission hearing, CEO Sergio addressed various issues within Rai, including attacks on its reputation, positive ratings results, handling of Franco Di Mare case and preparations for European elections and Sanremo Festival controversy involving John Travolta’s sponsor performance.

Furthermore, Rai is taking legal action against parties involved in contract term violations related to this performance. The CEO emphasized that it is essential to protect RAI from fake news and malicious attacks aimed at discrediting its reputation. Investigations are ongoing to ensure compliance with all aspects of operations with company policies and regulations.

Overall, it seems like Rai is taking a firm stance against any violation of its policies and regulations while also addressing concerns related to fake news attacks on its reputation.
