Introducing Astound Business Solutions’ New 400G Wavelength Service debut

Astound Business Solutions has identified education as one of its primary targets for its new 400G wavelength service. The company recognizes that schools require secure, high-bandwidth connections across multiple campuses, offices, and districts. To assist with this need, Astound Business Solutions participates in the Universal Service Administrative Company’s E-Rate program, which helps education customers secure funding for digital learning initiatives.

Knorr, the company’s vice president of network solutions, explains that the 400G service is centered on Ciena’s Waveserver 5 interconnect platform, which leverages Ciena’s WL5e 800G and WL5n 400G coherent optics to provide connectivity across all network links. Astound Business Solutions uses Ciena’s flexible 6500 ROADM photonic layer for resiliency and scalability and its Navigator Network Control Suite (Navigator NCS) for multi-layer visibility and simplified network management.

To accelerate its network build, the company is utilizing Navigator’s PlannerPlus and Emulation Cloud. These tools provide online network planning and design tools and an open environment for integration testing with operational support systems. With these tools, Astound Business Solutions can make accurate calculations about the right coherent technology to use for any distance at the lowest power and cost before any hardware is deployed.

Astound Business Solutions recognizes that its high-bandwidth network can handle the needs of teachers and students who are increasingly relying on the internet for enhanced learning, document sharing and collaboration, and research. The company believes that its service will allow schools to grow in the future by providing a reliable infrastructure for their digital learning initiatives.
