Cutting-edge MRI technology now offered in Missoula

Missoula, Montana – In 2020, over 2 million Americans were diagnosed with cancer, with half of those cases being preventable. To raise awareness about the importance of cancer prevention, February is National Cancer Prevention Month. We spoke with Dr. Tim McCue, Radiologist in Chief at Montana Imaging Center in Missoula, about a groundbreaking new technology that could help prevent and detect potential health issues or diseases.

Dr. McCue shares that Montana Imaging offers a full-body MRI scan that scans from the top of the head to the top of the knees in search of potential health issues or diseases. This scan is the only one of its kind offered in the state and uses Artificial Intelligence to check for a range of conditions, including cancer, neurological disorders, liver diseases, and cardiovascular issues. Whether an individual is taking preventative measures or seeking peace of mind about a new symptom, Dr. McCue emphasizes that this scan is available to anyone interested.

“The interesting thing about the whole body scan is that it can be for everybody,” Dr. McCue explained. “There are older individuals who are concerned about cancer and want peace of mind, as there are cancers like pancreatic and ovarian cancer that do not have effective screening methods. Similarly, younger, active individuals are looking to be proactive and ensure their body is healthy.”

In addition to offering full-body MRI scans, Montana Imaging will also begin offering cat scans this week. Since its establishment one year ago, the center has consistently introduced new technology to the Missoula community.
