Elon Musk aims to transform X into a video platform resembling YouTube: the similarity is clear

Elon Musk, the owner of X, is planning to launch a new streaming video platform that will offer audio, video, messaging, and payment capabilities. The design of the platform is similar to YouTube TV, with a login screen, Home tab, Search tab and Profile pages. In preparation for this launch, X has recently developed an application for Amazon and Samsung smart TVs that offers long-form videos up to two hours in length. The app’s interface has been previewed by application researcher Nima Owji and features a main page with both long-form videos and Shorts presented in vertical format, along with filters for recommended and trending content.

The upcoming X app for smart TVs will be web-based and compatible with most smart TV models. It will cater to a variety of content preferences and user needs, aiming to establish itself as a robust streaming platform for video consumption. To compete in the streaming video platforms sector, X plans to offer users the ability to watch long videos on their TVs in addition to other features such as messaging and payment capabilities. With its focus on providing an all-in-one solution for users’ entertainment needs, X is well positioned to become a major player in the streaming video market.
