Jurassic World Reboot: Scarlett Johansson Joins the Cast

The reboot of Jurassic World is set to be directed by Gareth Edwards at Universal, with 2-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson as one of the stars. This news follows Johansson’s successful stint as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her recent lawsuit against Disney over the release of Black Widow during the pandemic.

Universal is fast-tracking production for a July 2, 2025 release date. David Koepp, who previously adapted the first Jurassic Park film from Michael Crichton’s novel, will write the script. The new movie will offer a fresh perspective on the Jurassic era, with no return expected from cast members of previous Jurassic World films such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Actors from the original Jurassic Park trilogy, including Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill, are also not expected to appear in this new installment.

Jurassic World will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers under Kennedy-Marshall. Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell are overseeing production at Universal Studios.
