Scarlett Johansson is set to star in Universal’s latest installment of the Jurassic World franchise, which is scheduled for release on July 2, 2025. The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards with a script written by David Koepp.

Johansson has previously starred as Black Widow in various Marvel Studios films, including the Avengers series. However, she has also made a name for herself in other projects and has earned two Oscar nominations for her roles in Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit. She is also set to voice a character in the upcoming animated feature Transformers One and will appear alongside Channing Tatum in a big-budget Apple feature this year.

The Jurassic World franchise has been ongoing for over three decades, starting with Steven Spielberg’s 1993 hit film Jurassic Park, based on Michael Crichton’s novel. This was followed by a sequel, The Lost World, directed by Spielberg in 1997, and Jurassic Park III in 2001 helmed by Joe Johnston. Universal revived the franchise with Jurassic World in 2015, which became a major box office success grossing $1.67 billion. This was followed by sequels Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Dominion in 2022. The most recent trilogy of films was led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard under the direction of filmmaker Colin Trevorrow.
