Wrighton appointed chair of Science Center board at The Source

Mark S. Wrighton, a renowned scientist and former university administrator, has been appointed as the chair of the Saint Louis Science Center’s board of commissioners. His term began on January 1st. In this new role, Wrighton will work closely with the president of the Science Center to improve and enhance its programs and initiatives.

Before his career in academia, Wrighton made significant contributions in the fields of photochemistry, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry. He is highly respected for his research achievements and has been recognized with numerous awards throughout his career.

As a member of the Science Center’s board of trustees for many years and later its board of commissioners, Wrighton has had a deep understanding of the institution’s mission to make science, technology, engineering and math accessible to everyone in the St. Louis region and beyond through interactive experiences. The Science Center is one of only a few free nonprofit science museums in the country and engages nearly half a million visitors each year, making it one of the largest science centers in both the U.S. and abroad.
