In the small settlement of Mravince, located below Mosor in the Municipality of Solin, a tragedy occurred that left the community speechless for the third time in two months. A 52-year-old bus driver, who was driving a group of football players from HNK Sloga Mravince to Biograd on a road against Primorje, lost his life. The driver managed to slow down the bus and turn onto the stop lane of the highway just before his death. Behind him sat coach Ivica Žuljević, who came to his aid when he realized that the driver was fainting. Despite their efforts, they were unable to resuscitate him.

The loss of life has left many questioning what could have happened if it weren’t for the prudence of the driver in those final moments. The bus only “scraped” the guardrail during the stop, but had it gone off course at high speed without control, it could have been an even bigger tragedy.

While waiting for emergency services to arrive, club physiotherapist was trying to resuscitate the driver and club president Dr. Zdravko Perko also arrived at Biograd by car for a match with Primorje. The company from Stobreč has been working with HNK Sloga Mravince for years and everyone was deeply attached to him.

Unfortunately, one life was lost and it could have been even worse. However, thanks to everyone’s composure and quick thinking during those critical moments, no one else was hurt except for Marko Bakotić who was seriously injured while his pregnant wife Antonela lost her life in an accident not far from Venice earlier this month and 19-year-old Ante Kljaković-Šantić died in hospital after being involved in a car accident with two peers landed Dugopolje few days ago .

Residents of Mravince are still struggling with these three tragedies connected with HNK Sloga Mravince and many are calling for an end to this cycle of misfortunes
