Sophia and Victoria Rodriguez, sisters from Mercer Island (WA), have been making waves in the track and field community. In 2024, Sophia set new freshman all-time records in the two mile and 5K races, while her older sister Victoria holds the fastest time in the state in the 2K steeplechase. The sisters recently shared with MileSplit how technology has played a significant role in their success as athletes.
“We use data to guide our training sessions and prepare for competition days,” said Sophia. “It helps us analyze our performance and make informed decisions about how to improve.”
Victoria added, “Being from Mercer Island, we’ve always had a strong support system. But using technology to enhance our training has taken our performance to the next level.”
The sisters have both made impressive strides this season, with Sophia breaking records and Victoria holding the fastest time in the state in her event. Their dedication to their sport and their use of technology to enhance their training sets them apart as elite athletes.
