Special solar eclipse event offered at Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is preparing to host a special event in celebration of the upcoming solar eclipse. On April 8, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., guests will have access to all 50,000 square feet of the center, including special programming throughout the galleries. This event is free with admission and attendees will receive a limited number of eclipse glasses for safe viewing.

During the event, guests can participate in a variety of educational activities about the eclipse, viewing safety, gravity, cultural interpretations of eclipses and constellations, and the opportunity to view the partial eclipse. Activities include creating pinhole cameras, watching live coverage of the eclipse from NASA, and engaging in educational activities about gravity and UV rays.

In addition to these activities, documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D will be available in the center’s four-story theater, exploring NASA’s Space Shuttle program and other space-related topics.

Kentucky Science Center CEO Mike Norman expressed excitement about hosting this event and engaging with guests from the region while explaining the science behind the eclipse. The event is made possible in part by a NASA Kentucky Space Grant. The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W. Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
