Phoenix Science Center to Host Free Eclipse Viewing Event

The total solar eclipse is coming to North America on April 8th, and Arizona Science Center in Phoenix is hosting a free viewing party for the event. This phenomenon occurs when the sun and moon cross paths, causing darkness to fall upon the Earth. Phoenix residents will be able to witness 64% coverage between 10:08 a.m. and 12:35 p.m., with peak coverage at 11:20 a.m.

The Science Center, located downtown at 600 E. Washington St., will kick off the viewing party at 9 a.m. on the day of the eclipse. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy solar-based activities and educational opportunities that will help them learn more about this rare astronomical event. Telescopes will be available for sky gazing, and interactive activities will teach visitors how to protect their eyes from potential sun damage by wearing solar eclipse glasses.

It’s important to note that not only Arizona but also some areas of the Southwest, including Texas, will experience a total solar eclipse on April 8th. NASA will launch three rockets during the event to study its effects on Earth’s atmosphere for more information and updates about this event visit Arizona Science Center website at https://www.azscience.org/.
