At approximately 8:54 p.m. last night, the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke emanating from the windows and doors of a two-story commercial building located in the 8500 block of 14th Ave S in South Park. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters confirmed the reports of smoke and swiftly deployed water on the fire.
As crews entered through the front door, they were confronted with heavy smoke that flowed down to the ground floor, causing poor visibility. Despite this, firefighters quickly identified the source of the fire near the rear of the first floor and managed to extinguish it by 9:24 p.m. A thorough search of the building ensued, and thankfully, no one was found inside, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators later determined that the fire was accidental, most likely caused by faulty electrical wiring. The cause of the fire has been ruled as an accident.
