Southern Nevada Health District website breached due to malicious code

In the wake of a recent data breach, the Southern Nevada Health District is taking steps to notify approximately 300 clients of the incident. The breach occurred on the Environmental Health Invoice Payment form between March 4 and March 14, when a malicious code was placed on the page, redirecting clients to a fraudulent payment form that resembled a credit card payment page.

As soon as the district became aware of the issue, they removed the form and notified law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to investigate and secure their site. The Health District is emphasizing client and patient security by working with authorities and security advisors to prevent future incidents.

Individuals affected by the breach will receive a letter from SNHD offering assistance with potential identity theft and resolution services. As of now, there have been no reports of credit misuse as a result of the breach. However, the district is taking proactive measures to address this incident and ensure their clients’ safety. They are committed to working with authorities and experts to prevent similar incidents in the future and provide support to those impacted by this breach.
