ST. PAUL, Minn. — A college project turned into a actual-life threat. A St. Paul science club of seventh- and eighth-grade students at Realize Language Academy tested a water sample close to their college and had been shocked by what they identified.

Beaver Lake is situated straight behind the public charter college. Emily Vondriska’s Conservation Club took samples from the lake in April, just after the water thawed.

They took numerous one hundred-milliliter water samples back to their classroom and separated the water from what ever solids had been in it. The solids had been left behind on a graph-like paper disk and placed below a microscope.

The Conservation Club spotted microplastics on the disk.
