In March, a complaint was filed by Circle Centre Mall in Indianapolis against its tenant Sugar Factory subsidiary SF Indianapolis 88 LLC for defaulting on rent payments. The landlord claims that the subsidiary has been behind on their lease since January 2023, with a total outstanding balance of over $333,000. A letter was sent to Sugar Factory by Circle Centre Mall, LLC outlining the unpaid rent and requesting payment.
Sugar Factory is a New York City-based restaurant known for its sweet treats and adult beverages. It opened its Indianapolis location in April 2022 at 49 W. Maryland Street, the former site of Palomino restaurant. Despite this new opportunity, it appears that the subsidiary has not been able to meet its financial obligations to the landlord. As a result, an eviction hearing has been scheduled for May 1st in Marion County Superior Court 3. If necessary, it seems that the landlord is taking legal action to resolve this issue and remove Sugar Factory from the premises.
