Joe Thuney ruled out with pectoral issue for Super Bowl 2024; Jerick McKinnon’s status uncertain for game time

As the Super Bowl LVIII approaches, both the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are facing minimal injury concerns on their respective rosters. The Chiefs will be without Charles Omenihu and Joe Thuney, who has been ruled out with a pectoral issue. Nick Allegretti will continue to fill in for Thuney. On the other hand, Rashee Rice, who was reportedly stepped on during practice, will play with no issues. Jerick McKinnon has been activated from injured reserve and is expected to be a game-time decision for the Chiefs.

For the 49ers, George Kittle and Arik Armstead fully participated in Friday’s practice and were given no injury designation after being limited earlier in the week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that he wasn’t worried about their status and they will both play in the Super Bowl. The game will air on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
