Local Health Officials Report 37 Casualties in Israeli Strikes at Rafah Refugee Camp

In response to the Hamas incursion that killed 1,200 people and abducted at least 250 in southern Israel on Oct. 7, Israel launched a military assault on the Gaza Strip. This assault has resulted in the deaths of more than 28,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated in an interview that there are still 132 Israeli hostages being held in Gaza and that there is enough evidence to justify the ongoing war in the region.

Hamas-run Aqsa Television quoted a senior Hamas leader on Sunday, who warned that any Israeli ground assault in the region of Rafah would “blow up” the hostage-exchange negotiations. The Egyptian foreign ministry also issued a warning of “dire consequences” if Israel proceeds with a potential military assault on Rafah, which is located near its border. The Egyptian foreign ministry emphasized the need for all international and regional efforts to unite in order to prevent the city of Rafah from being targeted.
