The Northgate Mall: A Coming Back Story

However, despite these challenges, business owners like Christopher Rubin and Cristal Henry remain optimistic about the future of the once-vibrant shopping center.

Rubin, a licensed cosmetologist at the mall, fondly remembers when it was a popular destination for north side residents. He believes that the Northgate Mall still has major potential for growth and success, and his optimism is shared by other business owners like Ebony Roberts.

Despite leaving her teaching job six years ago to open a skincare business at the mall, Roberts emphasizes that there are still many thriving businesses at Northgate. With 35 shops mostly owned by local entrepreneurs, there is a strong sense of community and pride in preserving the legacy of the area.

For both residents and business owners alike, there is a shared goal of reviving the Northgate Mall and attracting more businesses to the north side of Lafayette.
