The Jets made a surprise move during Sunday’s game in Buffalo, replacing struggling quarterback Zach Wilson with Tim Boyle. With the Jets trailing 29-6 late in the third quarter, Wilson was pulled from the game after going 7-of-15 for 81 yards, a touchdown, and an interception while being sacked five times.
Tim Boyle has never played for the Jets before but has appeared in 17 games for the Packers, Lions, and Bears. He started three times for the Lions in 2021. This marks his first appearance with the Jets.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been steadfast in his support of Wilson since Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles in the first week of the season. However, despite his efforts, Wilson’s performance has been underwhelming and a lasting change may be on the horizon as the team holds out hope that they can stay in playoff contention long enough for Rodgers to return to action.
