The highest ranked school in the area was Canyon Crest Academy, located in the San Dieguito Union High School District, coming in at No. 15 in California and No. 140 nationwide. Close behind were The Preuss School UCSD and Del Norte High School, which ranked at No. 2 and No. 3 in the county, respectively.
A total of 10 public high schools in San Diego made the top rankings, including Westview High School, Mt. Everest Academy, Scripps Ranch High School, La Jolla High School, Sage Creek High School, River Valley Charter, and Del Lago Academy – Campus of Applied Science. The complete list can be found on the U.S. News and World Report website.
The rankings are determined by a partnership between U.S. News and World Report and a nonprofit research firm called RTI International. Schools are evaluated based on factors such as graduation rates, standardized testing outcomes, and performance on college-level exams. The rankings are based on weighted scores assigned to each category
