Israeli Army confirms death of Hamas’ 3rd-in-command in recent Gaza attack

The Israeli Army has announced the death of Marwan Issa, the ‘number 3′ of Hamas, during an airstrike carried out at the beginning of the month in the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the center of Gaza. Issa, who was Mohamed Deif’s second-in-command and head of Ezzeldin al Qassam Brigades – Hamas’ armed wing – played a key role in organizing the attacks on October 7 that left around 1,200 people dead and 240 hostages.

According to reports, another senior Hamas member, Commander Ghazi Abu Tamaa, head of the combat and administrative assistance staff, was also killed in the same attack on March 10. The White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had already announced Issa’s death last week.

Israel launched its offensive against Gaza in response to the October 7 attacks. Since then, more than 32,300 Palestinians have died in Gaza due to Israeli military operations and a blockade imposed by Israel on the enclave. Additionally, over 420 Palestinians have died as a result of actions by Israeli security forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
