Unveiling the Nutritional Secrets of Eggs: Beyond Protein and Cholesterol

Eggs are widely known for their high-quality proteins that help build muscles, boost the immune system, and prevent hair loss. Their protein composition is superior to meat, fish, and dairy products, making them a valuable addition to most people’s diets. Vegetarians can especially benefit from consuming 2-3 eggs a day, depending on their calorie and protein needs.

Despite concerns about cholesterol, new research has shown that the cholesterol in eggs does not necessarily lead to increased cholesterol levels in the blood. Even those with high cholesterol can include eggs in their diet in moderation as all the beneficial nutrients including vitamins, minerals, fats, and cholesterol are found in the yolk.

While the yolk contains more proteins than the white part of the egg, it mostly consists of water and little protein. The nutritional value of eggs remains relatively constant regardless of whether they are eaten boiled or fried or used in dishes like omelettes or shakshuka; however, calorie content can vary significantly depending on how they are prepared.

There is a common misconception that egg color affects egg quality but typically orange color results from chicken’s diet. It is essential for individuals to be aware of the calorie content of egg-based dishes and adjust their consumption accordingly to maintain a balanced diet. Overall, eggs are an excellent source of nutrition for everyone regardless of dietary restrictions or concerns about cholesterol levels.
