UVA Health Supports Underserved Communities with $10,000 Donation to Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic

UVA Health has honored National Doctors’ Day by donating $10,000 to the Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic in Manassas and Woodbridge. The clinic provides free medical care to the uninsured and underinsured in the area. The clinic is committed to offering quality healthcare services to the community of Prince William County. Erik Shannon, Chief Operating Officer of Community Health, expressed gratitude for the dedicated doctors who serve patients in Prince William and surrounding areas.

The Catholic Charities Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic offers a range of services including annual physicals, disease management, prenatal care, health and wellness classes, eye exams, and more. All doctors and nurses working in the clinic volunteer their time to provide free medical care. In addition to medical services, the clinic also offers integrated services like counseling, emergency food assistance, and workforce development.

Alexandra Luevano, clinic director of Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic thanked UVA Health for its ongoing support and generosity towards both her clinic and its patients. UVA Health has donated a total of $50,000 this year across its service area from Charlottesville to Northern Virginia and Culpeper as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local healthcare providers who are dedicated to improving the health outcomes for their communities.
