Vermont Green FC faced a tough challenge in the US Open Cup match against Carolina Core, ultimately losing 2-1 despite a strong first half performance. In the first half, Vermont Green took an early lead when Yaniv Bazini converted a penalty in the 28th minute. Goalkeeper Nathan Schnur made five important saves to keep his team ahead, but Carolina Core was determined to come back.

The second half saw Carolina Core fighting back, with Papa Ndoye scoring a penalty to level the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute. Joshua Rodriguez then scored the winning goal for Carolina Core in the 70th minute, leaving Vermont Green struggling to keep up. Despite several opportunities to equalize, Vermont Green FC was unable to do so and suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

After the game, head coach Adam Pfeifer expressed his gratitude for the support from fans and community members. While acknowledging their loss, he commended his team’s effort against a strong opponent and noted the challenges they faced throughout the match. With their focus now shifted to the upcoming USL2 campaign, which begins on May 18th against Boston City, Vermont Green will have some time to regroup and prepare for what lies ahead.
