Vice President Kamala Harris recently hosted a gathering of influential women in the sports industry at her residence. The event, held in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Foundation, included league commissioners, team owners, athletic directors, and athletes on the guest list. Founder Billie Jean King was also present.
During the celebration, Harris emphasized the importance of providing equitable opportunities for women in sports to empower them and develop strong young women. She shared words of wisdom from her mother that encouraged attendees to be trailblazers and pave the way for future generations. Harris highlighted the impact of the work being done by the women in attendance, emphasizing the importance of representation and breaking barriers.
Among those present were Scout Bassett, a Paralympian and President of the Women’s Sports Foundation, Jessica Berman, commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League, Nikki Fargas, president of the Las Vegas Aces, Darcie Kassewitz, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Francie Gottsegen, president of the North Carolina Courage and Renee Montgomery owner Atlanta Dream.
