A thunderstorm hit the Zagreb area around 2 a.m. tonight, causing many sleepless nights for residents. One Twitter user wrote, “What an apocalypse this is,” while another added that he did not expect thunder to wake him up at 3 in the morning.
It was two hours after midnight when one Facebook user was woken up by the terrible thunder, thinking it was an earthquake at first. Dunja Plačko Vršnak from DHMZ said in Good morning, Croatia, that this weather is appropriate for the time of year. The announced change in weather and cyclones moved over our area and brought us thunder with strong shocks.
The EMSC tweeted that the strength of the thunder was evident, with many people thinking it was an earthquake. One user from EMSC wrote, “It shook and a strong sound was heard in the northern part of Zagreb.” Another user added, “Rumbling, slightly shaking.”
