Todd Stottlemyer, CEO of Acentra Health, commended Verlon Johnson’s appointment as the chair of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) by the Government Accountability Office. This appointment is in addition to her reappointment for a second consecutive 3-year term as a MACPAC commissioner. Johnson expressed her deep humility and honor at being recognized alongside such an exceptional team of commissioners and staff. As the Chief Strategy Officer of Acentra Health, Johnson is responsible for overseeing the company’s growth strategy, including organic growth and acquisitions.
Established in 2009, MACPAC is a non-partisan advisory committee that provides guidance to Congress, the Health and Human Services Department Secretary, and states on policy and access issues related to Medicaid and CHIP. Johnson is known as a nationally recognized expert in government healthcare programs, having previously served in federal positions before joining Acentra Health. Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) praised Johnson’s appointment, noting that her contributions as a MACPAC Commissioner have been valuable to Congress in addressing issues related to Medicaid and CHIP. As an outstanding recognition of her extensive experience in both public and private sector healthcare over the past three decades, this appointment underscores Johnson’s dedication to improving healthcare outcomes for millions of people through collaborative efforts with the MACPAC group.
