The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of Anas Yahiya, Ajmal, Rajiv, and Jacob, seized their second chance and ran an impressive season’s best time of 3:03.23 to secure a spot in the event. After missing out on qualification for the Tokyo Olympics, Rajesh Ramesh had to withdraw from the race on Saturday due to injury. In his place came Arokia Rajiv, who helped lead India to a victory in the race.
On the other hand, the Indian women’s 4x400m relay team clocked a time of 3:29.35 in their heat against Jamaica and earned a quota for India at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Rupal replaced Vithya Ramraj in this race as well.
Although they did not start in the second heat of the mixed relay qualifying round, India still has a chance to qualify a team for the event at Paris 2024 Olympics. Two quotas will be distributed based on the top list during the qualification period between December 31, 2022 and June 30th, 2024.
