Kellan Boylan, a sophomore starter for the Air Force Falcons, has transferred to Lipscomb University, leaving the team’s 2023-24 roster. Boylan started 30 games last season and averaged 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. His standout performance came against Wyoming, where he scored 32 points on nine 3-pointers. He reached double figures in eight games, three times in Mountain West play.
This transfer comes after sophomore Rytis Petraitis announced his commitment to California earlier this month. Petraitis led Air Force in various statistical categories during the 2023-24 season. The Bisons, based in Nashville, Tenn., are part of the Atlantic Sun Conference and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. Lipscomb finished with a record of 20-12 in the 2023-24 season.
Boylan and Petraitis are the only two Falcons who have entered the transfer portal as per Academy rules, which allow cadet athletes to transfer until the start of their junior years. Air Force’s 2023-24 campaign marked its worst full season since 1998, finishing with a record of just five wins and 17 losses. The Falcons ended up at the bottom of the Mountain West standings with a record of just two conference wins out of eight games played within their division.
The departure of Boylan and Petraitis marks another blow for Air Force’s struggling program as they continue to struggle to find success on the court.
