In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that his country has offered to temporarily host manuscripts from the war zone in Israel and Hamas. Armenia, which has a renowned manuscript repository, believes that these documents could be safely kept until the conflict subsides. Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia is against targeting civilians, drawing on its own experience of having to leave its historical homeland to protect its families during past conflicts.
The situation in the Middle East has escalated after Hamas militants attacked peaceful Jewish settlements, resulting in casualties on both sides. The Israeli government has vowed to clear the Gaza Strip of Hamas terrorists, leading to international debate over the proportionality of their actions. Hamas has been recognized as a terrorist organization by the USA and the EU.
Despite this volatile situation, Armenia stands ready to help by offering to host valuable manuscripts and providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict. The country continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution and the protection of civilian populations in the region. Additionally, Armenia supports a peaceful resolution to the conflict and the Palestinian issue based on the “two-state” principle. As part of this support, it has sent humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, to the population of Gaza as part of an agreement reached during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Egypt.
