The Prosecutor General’s Office is seeking to confiscate over 86 billion 480 million drams (about one billion dollars) worth of assets from several individuals and their associates. Three applications were presented in parliament today by prosecutor Anna Vardapetyan, which include demands for the return of various types of property and other assets.
For example, the prosecutor’s office is seeking the confiscation of 25 units of real estate and over 35 billion drams from former President Robert Kocharyan and seven others related to him. Additionally, they are requesting the seizure of five means of transport, participation in 16 Armenian and foreign legal entities, over 4 million dollars in deposit securities, and the right to request loans equivalent to about 10 billion drams from Kocharyan and his associates.
Similarly, for ex-Chairman of SRC Gagik Khachatryan and his related persons, the prosecutor is demanding the confiscation of around 200 units of real estate in favor of Armenia. This includes 56 properties located in the center of Yerevan. Khachatryan is also required to surrender 13 means of transport, participation in 29 legal entities, over 1.4 million dollars in deposits and securities, the right to demand loans equivalent to more than 23 million dollars, and over 23 billion drams.
Furthermore, the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party, ex-MP Gagik Tsarukyan and his related persons are being asked to forfeit 79 real estates, 42 vehicles, and the acquisition value of eight unidentified vehicles in the amount of about 349 million drams in favor of Armenia.
