Austin FC, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team based in Texas, is currently in talks to host the 2025 MLS game at Q2 Stadium. The team is close to finalizing legal contracts for the event, which is set to take place next summer. This news was reported by ESPN on Monday.
In previous years, the MLS All-Star Game has featured select players from an international club or another league competing against the best of MLS. Austin FC, an expansion team that began playing in the 2021 season and became the first major professional sports team in Texas’ capital city, will be participating in this year’s game.
The 2024 MLS game will be hosted by Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field, where the MLS All Stars will face off against Liga MX superstars on July 24th. In 2021, Austin FC suffered a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal FC of England’s Premier League.
Austin FC made it to the Western Conference Final in 2022 but was defeated by LAFC with a score of 3-0. Q2 Stadium has a seating capacity of 20,738 and is expected to host the highly anticipated 2025 MLS Game next summer.
