Vennam and Wiener Claim Compound Titles at Shanghai 2024 Season Opener

In the recent 15-arrow match, the Austrian archer displayed exceptional accuracy, missing the eight-centimetre 10-ring only twice in the first end and once each in the second and third. The 27-year-old’s victory was an amazing experience for him, and he expressed his excitement at being in Mexico. This marks his first Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam will be participating in her second final after Hermosillo last year, where she defeated the top-seeded archer from Mexico to secure her slot. Unfortunately, Andrea Becerra narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final as she had a point to lose with one arrow remaining. Despite this, Vennam secured the final berth with a wider nine.

The Hyundai Archery World Cup this season consists of three stages instead of four. Therefore, points accumulated with strong finishes in Shanghai placed archers in a good position to qualify for the final based on rankings. Stage winners like Vennam and Wiener have already secured their spots in the final, while the recurve finals will conclude the competition in Shanghai on Sunday.
