Tonsillitis Reoccurs 15 Times Annually

Child Samnang Chea, who is eight years old, has been experiencing tonsillitis and adenoiditis approximately 1-2 times every month for the past year. This condition has resulted in complications such as respiratory infections and otitis media. The disease recurs frequently, resulting in symptoms like fever, stiff throat, stuffy nose, headache, dry cough, sleep apnea, and snoring. Ms. Li Sek, the child’s mother, brought her to Ho Chi Minh City from Cambodia for treatment.

At the Ear, Nose and Throat Center in Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Chea underwent an endoscopy that revealed red and swollen tonsils with a layer of yellow fluid in her throat. Dr. CKI Diep Phuc Anh diagnosed Chea with severe tonsillitis and adenoiditis causing airway obstruction and forcing her to breathe through her mouth. Without prompt medical attention and surgery, complications such as respiratory tract infections and otitis media can arise.

Dr. Diep Phuc Anh performed surgery on Chea to remove her tonsils and adenoids using the coblation plasma technology method. This minimally invasive procedure reduces tissue damage while also reducing post-operative complications and facilitates quick recovery time for patients. The surgery successfully eliminated inflammation after just one day of treatment, allowing Chea to talk comfortably soon after the procedure and discharge from the hospital within 24 hours of the operation’s completion.

Excessive tonsillitis can lead to various health problems such as eating difficulties, fatigue, bad breath, prolonged coughing spells, sore throats that last for a long time or even upper respiratory blockages that cause snoring or sleep apnea.

Dr. Phuc Anh recommends parents take their children’s immune system seriously by providing them with a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A & C; ensure regular mouth hygiene practices such as brushing twice a day; maintain overall cleanliness by washing hands regularly; encourage children to get plenty of restful sleep.

In conclusion, proper medical care along with timely surgery can effectively treat tonsillitis and adenoiditis in children leading to better overall health outcomes for them.

The good news is that there are now minimally invasive procedures available like coblation plasma technology that reduce tissue damage while also reducing post-operative complications making recovery quicker than ever before!
