In Ohio, the city of Ironton is currently offering grant money to small businesses through its economic development fund. The goal of this program is to help businesses cover the costs of capital improvements and promote growth. The city gives additional preference to applicants who plan to use the funds for improvements that match current spending or create new job opportunities.
Mayor Sam Cramblit stated that the funds for the economic development fund come solely from hotel tax revenues generated by stays at the city’s two hotels. If a business is awarded a portion of this grant money and uses it according to the guidelines, they do not have to repay it to the city.
Interested businesses can access the grant application online on the city’s website or submit it in person at the mayor’s office before June 14th. Many businesses like Kouns Korner are excited about this opportunity and are considering applying for funding to improve their facilities, such as expanding kitchen space, adding parking, and increasing seating capacity due to rapid growth. This initiative aims to support small businesses and enhance economic development in Ironton.
