After this time frame, referred to as “the silver hour” and “the bronze hour”, the effectiveness of treatment may decrease. Research has shown that early intervention significantly improves survival rates for those with myocardial infarction.

Atherosclerosis is one of many causes of myocardial infarction and risk factors such as smoking, stress inflammation and infections can contribute to their development by forming blood clots that block blood vessels leading to heart attack. Complications may include abnormal heart rhythms or failure and sudden death if left untreated promptly. Prevention measures involve maintaining a healthy lifestyle by controlling blood pressure levels and managing other health conditions such as diabetes or high cholesterol levels effectively reduce the risk of developing this condition.
