Brighton’s Growing Grads program is designed to provide young entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to start and run a business. The program covers topics such as creative and communication skills, as well as the expenses that need to be considered when starting a business.
The boot camp has been very successful in helping Brighton’s youth develop important business skills and gain self-confidence. Tawnya Russell, Youth Services Manager, believes that the program has been rewarding for participants and is constantly evolving to meet their needs. She expects the boot camp to be even better in 2024.
The boot camp will be held at Brighton’s City Hall on 500 South 4th Ave. An orientation for all ages will take place on June 25 from 3-5 p.m., with separate sessions for different age groups. The program for those aged 12 and younger will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while the program for those aged 13 and older will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m each day.
Upon completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to sell their products at the Brighton City BBQ festival on July 18, which provides an excellent platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and products before a wider audience, giving them real-world experience in running a business operations .
