California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is hosting its third annual Digital Equity Day, with a focus on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This day brings together distinguished speakers Stephen Than and Deone Zell to discuss the transformative potential of AI in education. Their insights delve into the revolutionary possibilities that AI presents for reshaping teaching methodologies, breaking down barriers to learning, and ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
Dr. Sheba Lo will address the impact of AI on race, culture, and accessibility, urging people to confront biases embedded within technology. Meanwhile, CSUN’s AI Jam 2024 competition is showcasing student-led projects using AI to address campus challenges. These student teams are refining their AI-powered solutions to tackle real-world problems on our campus, embodying CSUN’s commitment to innovation.
The 1st place winners of the competition are Luis Olmos, Victoria Miteva, and Vaishnavi Sen who designed the “AI Academic Course Planning Program.” The 2nd place winners are Conner Nehru Juman and Cameel Emily Juman who designed “MatBot by Chatty Matty” to solve scheduling course and advising issues. The 3rd place winners are Alberto Rubalcava and Alberto Sandoval who designed “Course Compass” to help students navigate their academic journey with clear guidance.
