Chinese Team Achieves Fractional Quantum Anomalous Hall State of Photons, Paving the Way for Quantum Computing Advancements

A team of Chinese scientists led by Professor Lu Chaoyang and Professor Pan Jianwei from the University of Science and Technology of China have successfully realized the fractional quantum anomalous Hall state of photons using “photon boxes.” This breakthrough is significant as it can help researchers gain a better understanding of and control over quantum systems, which is essential for the advancement of quantum computing.

According to Pan, this technology, referred to as quantum simulation, plays a crucial role in the “second quantum revolution” and is anticipated to be integrated into quantum computing in the near future. The research findings were published in the academic journal Science on May 3.
