On Friday, Stephens College and Columbia College faced off in a doubleheader after a recent loss to Williams Baptist University. In the first game, the Cougars quickly took control as Jazlin Gottman hit a single in the second inning that resulted in two RBIs and put them ahead 2-0. The Cougars scored two more runs off of Emma Bruno’s hit to right field in the sixth inning, securing a 4-0 victory.
However, the momentum shifted in the second game as Stephens College dominated the third inning, taking a 2-0 lead. Elise Kendrick’s hit drove in two runs, and the Stars continued to build on their lead with three more singles by the sixth inning. Despite their efforts, the Cougars fell short of a sweep as Stephens College emerged victorious with a final score of 6-4.
