Ezekiel Elliott is returning to Dallas after spending a year away with the New England Patriots. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Elliott has signed a one-year, $3 million deal with $2 million guaranteed. Despite making over $70 million in his career with the Cowboys, Elliott is excited to be back home.
After being drafted in 2016, Elliott spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Cowboys before leaving for the Patriots on a one-year deal. However, Pollard’s departure to the Tennessee Titans in the offseason and Elliott’s uncertain future led to rumors of a potential reunion with the Cowboys. After meeting with the team just before the 2024 NFL Draft, it became clear that both parties were interested in working together again. With Dallas not selecting a running back in the draft, it was evident that bringing back Elliott was the next move.
Although Elliott’s reduced salary reflects his declining on-field performance and current running back market trends, he is eager to prove himself once again in Dallas. Despite not reaching 1,000 rushing yards since 2021 and having a lower average per game in 2023, Elliott believes he has more to give to his team. The Cowboys are optimistic that they can reignite his career and help him return to top form as they welcome him back home.
