Curiosity is currently conducting an investigation in an altered zone near a fault with a focus on a “mini-start hole” to ensure the safety of a full drill hole. The target for drilling, known as “Pilgrim,” is located in the center of a Mastcam image. The team has planned to use MAHLI to capture images of “Pilgrim” before and after drilling, as well as place APXS over the target for overnight analysis. Additionally, measurements from DAN, RAD, and REMS will be taken.
Despite facing challenges with data volume and power constraints, the team was able to develop a comprehensive plan for the day. Tomorrow, I will be serving as the GSTL and it is expected that there will be a science block that allows for further characterization of the target using Mastcam and ChemCam.
