The two victims in a violent attack that resulted in a murder-suicide attempt have been identified as Jordan Block, 25, and Brian Martin, 64. Police believe that the woman’s boyfriend was responsible for the shooting deaths of her niece and uncle.
On Thursday, Block had arrived to visit her uncle Martin at their apartment inside a business complex in Santa Ana. Her boyfriend also happened to be there at the same time. The niece called 911 to report that her boyfriend had stabbed her and her uncle. When police arrived on the scene, they found the victims already dead.
Brian Martin was known for being cordial to all tenants of the business complex where he rented a unit. In addition to his friendly demeanor, he taught women’s self-defense classes and had a reputation for being conscientious. Officers found a large collection of ancient swords in his garage, one of which was bloodied outside the unit where he lived.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation as authorities continue to gather information about what led to this tragic event. Jordan’s boyfriend was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital as of Friday afternoon.
