Boston is a city known for its passionate sports fans who eagerly await the start of playoff season. This year, both the Bruins and Celtics are kicking off their respective runs, and businesses near TD Garden are gearing up for a busy weekend. Todd Bengtson, a Boston sports fan from Florida, expressed his excitement for the games as he has tickets for both of them.
The Bruins will kick off their NHL playoffs on Saturday, followed by the Celtics starting their NBA playoffs on Sunday. Nick Moniz, the general manager of Banners Kitchen and Tap, is expecting to go through hundreds of kegs and thousands of orders of chicken wings over the weekend as he prepares for large crowds at his establishment. Halftime Pizza is also anticipating big crowds, especially after the games are over. Although they couldn’t provide an exact number, they expect to sell more than 100 pizzas during this time.
In response to the increased foot traffic near the Garden during playoff season, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced the return of the Playoff Hub on Canal Street. This area will transform into a pedestrian zone before and during home playoff games, allowing fans to gather safely and support local businesses. With two high-profile playoff runs happening in one weekend, Boston’s sports scene is sure to be electric.
