The 2024 World Beer Cup, an esteemed beer competition held in Las Vegas, recognized the success of two Helena breweries: Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. and Copper Furrow Brewing. Lewis and Clark won a gold medal for their Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen in the American Wheat Beer category, while Copper Furrow secured a bronze medal for their Tmavé Pivo in the International Dark Lager beer style category.
Lewis and Clark Brewing Co.’s Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen is a tribute to Montana miners who tirelessly searched for gold in the region. This beer is made from malted wheat and Montana-grown barley. On the other hand, Copper Furrow Brewing’s Tmavé Pivo is a dark Czech lager with flavors of bread crust, caramel, and a hint of coffee roast in the finish. It is crafted with heritage Vienna and black malt, undergoing an intensive brewing process using Cz Saaz hops, Budvar yeast, and natural carbonation.
The World Beer Cup acknowledges brewing excellence from around the world. This year’s winners were determined by a panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries who evaluated over 9,300 entries from 2,060 breweries and 50 countries. The award ceremony took place on April 24 at The Venetian in Las Vegas where winners in 110 beer-style categories were honored. The competition was created by the Brewers Association in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing.
