On Friday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot near the Eastgate Town Center. Victor Miller with Chattanooga Police explained that the incident occurred around 10:00 am in the parking lot of the Eastgate Town Center area. “The person was walking towards a business when a suspect or suspects began shooting at them, and they were shot,” Miller said. The Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Fire Department, and Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
We spoke with a person who was inside of the Tennessee Community Counseling Services and DUI school at the time of the shooting. They told us they heard two gunshots and that the victim came inside the building. Across from where the shooting happened is Molly Maid. Sheena Crow, office manager, said she heard the shots fired while she was in her office. “I heard some pop, pop, pop but it didn’t occur to me what it might be,” Crow said. Then she heard firetrucks and ambulances so she went outside and saw all the commotion.
After learning about what happened, Crow says all she could think about was a shooting at T-Mobile on Brainerd Road weeks ago. She said two shootings in such a short period raise concerns. “It’s very concerning; we try to keep our doors locked at all times now,” Crow added while also mentioning how her girls have keys to get in and out to ensure their doors remain locked for safety purposes
