Elon Musk had plans to visit India next week, which was anticipated to include meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the announcement of Tesla building a factory in the country. However, due to heavy obligations at Tesla, Musk has postponed his trip to India. He expressed that he is looking forward to visiting later this year.
During his visit, Musk was planning to meet with leaders of Indian space tech startups, including the co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace. Apart from Tesla, Musk is also the CEO of SpaceX and X. Reports suggest that Musk was considering an investment of $2 to $3 billion in India for the new Tesla factory.
Originally scheduled just after India’s democratic election commenced, Elon Musk’s trip delay coincided with the world’s largest democratic election. With an estimated 960 million eligible voters in the country, the election is expected to last over a month. Current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to secure a rare third consecutive term.
