The City of Dallas Small Business Center is set to launch its Mentor Protégé Program (MPP) on May 2, 2024. The goal of this program is to support the growth of local Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (M/WBE) by fostering partnerships and enhancing the success of small businesses in the Dallas, TX area.
To achieve this, the program will offer one-on-one mentoring, workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities for participants. Financial stable Mentors, including Prime Contractors with contracts in the City of Dallas, who have been in business for 1-3 years and are willing to provide guidance will be involved. On the other hand, Emerging Protégé Businesses will consist of M/WBE certified small business owners looking to enhance their financial capacity to secure contracting opportunities.
Interested parties can find applications for the next cohort at the Small Business Mentor Protégé Program – Source Dallas. The Director of the Small Business Center, Joyce Williams emphasized that collaboration between seasoned businesses (mentors) and smaller enterprises (protégés) is crucial to help them excel as prime contractors or subcontractors in various contracting opportunities.
The City of Dallas Small Business Center encourages eligible businesses to apply for the Mentor Protégé Program. Established in December 2021, the City of Dallas Small Business Center combines various programs that aim to promote business diversity, workforce development and entrepreneurship in order to support small businesses’ growth needs.
