Endogenous retroviruses: Hidden hitchhikers and how they spread

Fort Hays State University’s Science Café is set to take place on Monday, April 29th. The event, sponsored by the Science and Mathematics Education Institute at FHSU, will feature a presentation on “Endogenous retroviruses: Hidden hitchhikers and how they spread.”

Dr. Eric Gillock, a professor of biological sciences at FHSU, will lead the discussion on these genetic parasites that make themselves at home in the genomes of most eukaryotic cells. Similar to unwanted house guests, these retroviruses are difficult to remove.

Science Café presentations are open to the public and come at no cost. For more information or inquiries, please contact Cari Rohleder at [email protected] or 785-628-4743. Additional details can be found on the FHSU Science and Mathematics Education Institute website, the FHSU Science Café webpage, and the FHSU Science Café Facebook page.
